Näätämöjoelta vaisu lohisaalis

Näätämöjoen kokonaislohisaalis kaudella 2020 oli vain 3,3 tonnia. Saalis laski 45 prosenttia edellisvuodesta ja oli pitkän aikavälin (1972-2020) toiseksi heikoin. Lohisaaliista kalastettiin Suomen puolelta 1,1 ja Norjan puolelta 2,2 tonnia.

Näätämöjoen Suomen puoleinen lohisaalis oli noin puolet pitkän aikavälin keskisaalista (2 tonnia). Vesistön Suomen puolen lohisaaliista paikkakuntalaiset pyysivät lohiverkoilla noin 700 kiloa (63 %). Arviolta 26 paikkakuntalaista ruokakuntaa kalasti verkkopyydyksillä. Paikallisten kalastajien määrä oli edellisvuosien tasolla.

Yhteensä 540 kalastusmatkailijaa sai Suomen puolelta arviolta 360 kiloa lohta, noin kolmanneksen Suomen puolen kokonaissaaliista. He lunastivat vajaat 2300 kalastusvuorokautta. Kalastusmatkailijoiden määrä oli edellisvuosien tasolla.

Norjan puolella (Neidenelva) kalastusmatkailijat ja paikkakuntalaiset vapakalastajat pyydystivät 2,1 tonnia lohta. Paikkakuntalaiset saivat käpäläpyynnillä eli heittonuottakalastuksella alle 100 kilon saaliin Kolttakönkään putouksella. Lähes koko kesän vallinneet suuret virtaamat haittasivat merkittävästi käpälä-pyyntiä. Saaliiksi otettujen lohien ohella Norjan puolella vapautettiin noin 150 lohta, yhteispainoltaan lähes 500 kiloa.  

Näätämöjoen Suomen puolen saalistilastot perustuvat Luonnonvarakeskuksen (Luke) ja Metsähallituksen kalastuskauden jälkeen tekemiin tiedusteluihin. Norjassa sekä paikkakuntalaisilla että kalastusmatkailijoilla on velvollisuus ilmoittaa saaliinsa saalisseurantajärjestelmään.

Nousulohimääristä tietoa kalalaskurilla

Norjan puolen Kolttakönkään putouksen kalatiessä on hyödynnetty kalalaskuria satunnaisesti 2000-luvulla ja vuosittain vuodesta 2018 lähtien.

–  Kesällä 2020 kalatietä pitkin nousi noin 1300 lohta ja 300 taimenta.  Havaitut nousukalamäärät olivat pienimmät koko seurantahistorian eli vuosien 2002-2020 aikana, kertoo Luken tutkija Panu Orell.

Orellin mukaan vähäinen nousulohimäärä johtui pääasiassa pienten yhden merivuoden lohien alhaisesta määrästä.  Heikot nousulohimäärät heijastuivat myös alhaisina lohisaaliina.

Laskurin avulla saadaan arvokasta tietoa Näätämöjokeen nousevien lohien määristä ja määrien vuosien välisestä vaihtelusta, vaikka sillä ei pystytä laskemaan kaikkia jokeen nousevia lohia. Osa lohista hyppää suoraan putouksesta käyttämättä kalatietä.

Kalalaskurin käyttö jatkuu myös kaudella 2021. Se asennetaan heti pahimpien kevättulvien laskettua, touko-kesäkuun vaihteessa. Laskurin tuottamia videoleikkeitä nousukaloista voi seurata internetistä:
